Horoscope and astrological planetary aspects of the Libya Jet Crash, Flight 8U-771, in Tripoli, 2010

For the Libyan jets that defected to Malta during the Libya Blood Rivers Revolution, please see this article on 21 February 2011: Libya Blood Rivers Revolution #1

Below are the preliminary horoscope charts for the Libya plane crash, flight Afriqiyah 8U-771, which occurred between 04h00m and 04h10m (UT) at Tripoli Airport (Libyan Arab Jamahirya) on 12 May 2010, coordinates 32°54'N and 13°11'W. Here is a pdf of the airport layout.

The plane crashed upon landing and exploded in millions of fragments. There is one survivor, a child, and 103 dead. All the information I have managed to gather is below and will be completed as and when more details become available. The passenger list has been published (if that link does not work in the future, try this one where I have copied the list.

NUPDATE: In an article published in the very serious Wall Street Journal, sources say that there was nothing wrong with the plane, that the Co-Pilot was flying, and that both became disoriented in the approach... Whenever I see an official report, I'll post the link here.

The astrology aspects occur during a generally difficult planetary period, with Mercury stationary going direct on the same day. In the general atmosphere of this month, a rather catastrophic list of aspects between Saturn take place. These are: opposition Uranus and Jupiter, quincunx Moon, Neptune, and Chiron, two Mars-Uranus and Mars-Pluto sesquisquare. In the helio chart, one notes the on-going applying Saturn-Pluto square, an applying Mars Neptune quincunx and Mars Uranus opposition. The astrological analysis will be completed a little later, when details of the airplane crash are better known. The picture on the right is reproduced with the permission of the photographer, pilot Chris Smith, at airliners.net (click for large photo), and was taken on the day after delivery to Libya, on 9 September 2009.

At any rate, the first half of this year is just not good for anything related to aircrafts and the airplane and travel industries. The astrology charts below are provisional until more details are known, so they may change in the next few days. Please take account of this before downloading.

Facts on the Libya plane crash

It is not clear whether the jet exploded on crashing, or whether it exploded before crashing. The plane was landing West to East in the rising sun amidst reduced visibility owing to a sand haze. It remains to be confirmed whether the jet was brought down when in the earth's shadow just before this sun rise. The photographs on the scene of this crash show mostly very small pieces, which would either confirm a high vertical velocity - if the plane exploded on impact - or a very unusual attitude. It may be that the pilots suffered from spatial disorientation plus the haze plus the sun glare (whiteout). References are here: (1) FAA; (2) Air Safety Foundation; (3) Wikipedia.

Remarks by professionals on various forums on the Internet are critical of the state of the runway and of the standards of air traffic control. It is not yet known whether this played a role in this tragedy and whether the pilots encountered some problem or made an error. It is understood that the Libyan Civil Aviation Authorities had been warned about poor standards, although this would be subject to proper verification, as various Internet sources are contradictory on this subject. The airport facilities were not as modern as in some countries. The weather was good but hazy. The plane crashed 900 meters from runway number 09. This is the 4th plane crash at Tripoli airport.

Here are the records of the previous crashes in Tripoli, kept by Aviation Safety Network:

1989 - ASN Aircraft accident McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 HL7328 Tripoli
1971 - ASN Aircraft accident de Havilland DH-106 Comet 4C SU-ALC Tripoli International Airport (TIP)
1970 - ASN Aircraft accident Tupolev 104A OK-NDD Tripoli

The aircraft was en route from Johannesburg in South Africa to Tripoli (Libya) and, according to this news source, it departed on 11 May 2010 at 19h37m UT. Many passengers had onward bookings for European destinations. Among them there were 62 Dutch people, a group of 38 who had gone on holidays from Düsseldof (Germany), and another of 24 from Brussels (Belgium). There is one 8 year-old Dutch child who survived; all other 103 passengers and crew, out of 104, have perished.

Facts on the plane and Afriqiyah Airways

The plane was an Airbus A330-200 registered 5A-ONG, msn 1024. According to Astro-Transport-Data-Bank, the almost brand new aircraft had 1,600 hours of flight, with 420 cycles. The French airbus company have promised full help in the forthcoming investigation.

First Flight or Maiden Flight of 5A-ONG - Geocentric and heliocentric charts

According to Aviation-Safety.net, its first (maiden) flight was on 12 August 2009 (in Toulouse, France). However, on Airliners.Net, there is a photograph of this plane on 29 May 2009. Officially, according to this official database, Airfleets.net, her maiden flight was definitely on 12 August 2009. Unfortunately, I have no time and no location, though I suspect it took place in Toulouse (France). As in the case of the AF447 plane, I have decided to draw the charts for 12 noon. The first reason is that it's tradition, the second reason is that as a commercial plane, the time of 12 noon would put the Sun somewhere near the Midheaven, in IX, X or XIth houses, which is appropriate for a commercial plane. That said, the angles and the Moon could be well off, so interpretation of the charts need to concentrate on the other points. Click on the charts below to view them in a large window.

On the geocentric side, it's immediately apparent that something will go wrong with this plane. Mars is exactly square Saturn, so tragedy would strike it at some point.
The extent to which a tragedy is shown in the chart is indicated by: the treble conjunction of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron, the nodes across the IV/X axis, Mercury conjunct Sappho, Sun square the Accursed Degree of the Accursed Sign... Pluto is conjunct Fixed Star Speculum, which is an unusual one, and malefic at that. The Moon, angular in VIIth in Taurus, is contraparallel Pluto, in Capricorn in IIIrd, the Moon being in mutual reception with Venus. A beautiful object costing a lot of money (in more ways than one, because that crash will prove very costly to the airline).

Although Mars, in Gemini in IX, is applying to the trine of the treble conjunction of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius, it's also, at the same time, applying to a square to Uranus in Pisces in the VIth. So this is a plane that looks good, full of energy (Mars), famous (Jupiter), which represents ideals (Neptune), it's also unstable and untidy in its movements (Gemini), prone to "nerves" (square to Uranus - electric problems?), with precipitation in action (going too fast, or reacting too fast). Ten degrees later, Mars will come to the opposition of Pluto (this plane crashed 10 months after its maiden flight).

The astrology chart is also full of minor aspects (not shown because it clutters the drawing). There are numerous quincunxes showing hesitation or lack of proper direction. Mercury is parallel Saturn at the same time as both are widely conjunct, in Virgo. So dignified Mercury holds dominion over Saturn and over Mars and Sappho. This certainly means the crews piloting this particular plane would generally be suitably qualified and old enough to make appropriate decisions.

Since it does not look like there is a "factory" defect in the plane, any future mishap would have to be provoked by other planets than Saturn or Mercury. This could happen with only two possibilities,
  • (1) exterior factors; or
  • (2) factors involving the crew without it being their fault.
Among those factors, one needs to look at Neptune, Jupiter, Uranus, Pluto. Neptune: fog, haze, optical illusions. Jupiter: overconfidence/over-reliance in technical equipment. Uranus: electrical problems. Pluto: something destructive. Lack of maintenance of the owner, lack of maintenance of the home of the owner (airport) is a very small possibility, not likely in my mind, because ruler of IVth is Saturn, which although debilitated in Virgo, is completely slave to a strong Mercury, so this is really a negligible possibility (but I could be wrong, since the time of the maiden flight is not known).

There's also a strange combination of fixed stars over Mercury, Sappho and Saturn, and the opposition to Uranus: Avior (Epsilon (ε) Carina in Argo Navis) and Delta Velorum (the sails in that same constellation). In a way, one could almost read the "sails" as the "wings" of this (air) ship. Anne Wright, in the articles on these stars, quoting Manilius and others, says that this can also mean "sign, flag", which would be appropriate to this plane, as it was one of the flagships of the fleet. Libya was a very active partner of the African Union and had painted its birth date on the fin of the planes (the most visible sign/flag). And the wings have been clipped (Mars) from air to earth (Saturn: earth, Mercury: earth and air). As for the whole constellation of the Argos Navis. I'll quote this author, but I strongly suggest you read the three articles in those links.
"Whoever is born on earth at the rising of Argo will be the captain of a ship; holding fast to his helm, he will forsake dry land for the sea and pursue his fortune with the winds; he will crave to traverse the entire ocean with his fleet, visit foreign climes and the deep Phasis, and better the speed of Tiphys towards the rocks (the Symplegades)....
The Libyan Afriqia Airways company was founded with the aim of beating low-cost airlines at their own game, at the same time as reinstating the Libya as an African influence of importance. Mercury and Saturn in Virgo are the epitome of "low cost". Looks like Saturn cut short this aim and Mars punctured a big balloon.

As for heliocentric aspects, if anything, they are worse and possibly the final clue to the end of this plane. Sappho, conjunct to Saturn, is opposite Uranus, and it's exact within a day. Sedna is opposed Mercury. Fixed star Avior is exactly conjunct Saturn. Mercury, just past a square to Earth, applies to the square of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron.

The whole configuration makes a tremendously powerful T-square, which is not balanced by much good, since the same quadruple conjunction is also quincunx Saturn. It also forms two mystical triangles if one counts Ceres in the configurations (square + quincunx + trine). These minor planets really ought to be the subject of some in-depth research. Venus and Mars are attacked by Pluto, there's a Yod with Eris at the apex and Mercury and Saturn on the other sides. In the parallels of declination, between some very tight orbs and some less so, there's Earth, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Juno and Vesta contacting each other. Too fast (Mars), too untidy (Uranus), too confident (Jupiter), too technical (Uranus), too much in a hurry to get home (Juno and Vesta), all meeting Earth... Not much good all that!

Plane delivery to Afriqiya Airways - Geocentric and heliocentric astrology charts

The possible confusion on dates exists for the delivery of the plane, with one photo on 8 September 2009 and another on the day after. It's symbolically important when that plane was delivered, as it bears the livery of the date of the birth of the African Union, on 9 September 1999. The plane, an Airbus A330, was supposed to have been delivered on the 10th commemoration of this important date. In fact, the aircraft was delivered in Tripoli Airport on 8 September 2009 and it was expected to land at about 16h00 local time (GMT +2). I have been unable to find a more accurate time than that. The charts for the jet's arrival are below, click on them to see the big screen charts.

One would quickly note that on the day the plane arrived in Libya, on the geocentric chart, Saturn is applying to the opposition of Uranus ("breaking an aircraft"), involving houses VIII, IX, and II/III ("death in travel"). Curiously, Moon is at ease, angular in the IVth in Taurus. Well, one could say the plane was "going home"... which it was also on the day of the crash.

The chart, from the point of view of major aspects is "average bad" because of the heavies, but the lighter planets are not much in emphasis in a bad way. However, the minor aspects are numerous and support my theory that such an abundance is probably not a good thing. At any rate, that new plane does not look like it suffered from any major technical fault - this would involve Mercury, Mars and Saturn, but it is not the case, particularly as Mercury and Saturn are in mutual reception. Note that if the time of landing is about right, we have some fixed stars on the ASC/DSC axis, Vega and Sirius, respectively, with Miaplacidus on the MC, but they are fortunate here. Perhaps this is what helped the little boy who survived.

The annoying little asteroids are playing up as well with Sappho opposed to Uranus, Juno smack on top of the cusp of III and square Pluto, Lilith conjunct the North Node Rahu.

The declinational aspects are few but interesting: Moon parallel Venus, and both contraparallel Pluto and Jupiter. Something big, emotional, destructive, and costing a lot of money. It certainly is the case that the plane was beautifully decorated (Venus), awakened emotions (African Unity symbol), political power (Pluto and Jupiter, perhaps not in the best way). Mars is almost out of bounds in Cancer, the child - Cancer/Moon) was thrown out (Mars "Out)? And one finds again a minor planet, Sappho, parallel Uranus.

On the heliocentric chart, the Saturn opposition to Uranus was exact the day before, Earth is applying by 9° to Uranus (9 months left to live???), Saturn is quincunx both Jupiter and Neptune. There's pesky little Juno which is conjunct to Uranus (see my remarks about these minor planets in the previous posts. They always seem to show up somewhere significant in disasters). Venus and Mars are on critical degrees and connecting to Pluto. Jupiter and Uranus are parallel in the latitudes, with Venus contraparallel them both. Pluto and Sappho are contraparallel.

So, from the above chart, one could have said, in anticipation, that there would be some problems with this plane. Whether one could have predicted the crash is perhaps best seen in conjunction with the other charts concerning this accident.

to view the different photos of the plane. If I get permission from the authors of these photographs, I'll put up the pictures themselves on this blog.

Afriqiyah Airways was founded in April 2001 and reorganised in 2007; it is owned by the Libyan Government. It started scheduled services on 1st December 2001. It has Airbus planes only. The average age of the fleet is 5 years.

Was the Icelandic volcanic ash to blame?

It is not known either if the volcanic ash plume from Iceland played a role or not. The volcano dust maps for yesterday and today did indicate that North Africa was at risk of volcanic ashes. I have dug out the ash maps from London VAAG from my computer but these do not show any significant amount of volcanic ash near Libya. After a second look at my sources, I cannot find a trace of volcanic ashes around Tripoli for that date and time.

I have other satellite photographs which show sand dust which would explain the haze described in the news articles, but these are usual conditions for this time of the year. Here is a satellite picture of sand over Eastern Libya, I did not find one for Western Libya where Tripoli is situated.

Astrology Horoscope Geocentric and heliocentric charts of the plane crash

I have set the chart for 04h05 GMT (06h05 local) because the time is not yet known with accuracy. Reading the article on the Internet makes me think it might have happened before sunrise, a few minutes before 04h00.

There was an Alitalia plane, flight AZ871, waiting for take-off and the crew saw the crash. According to the links provided, this Italian aircraft departed at 05h50 local (03h50 GMT). There were also planes waiting to land behind it, of which one of them also saw the tragedy. You might need to register with this site to see the full history of the landings and taking-offs of the planes (it's free, and there's no virus or spam associated with this site, I checked).

At first glance, if the plane crashed at around 04h00 GMT, the rising sign was in Taurus. Moon, in the last degrees of Aries in the XIIth was in a Yod with Saturn and Neptune. Mercury, which was just becoming direct again, was also in Taurus in the XIIth, in a trine to Pluto and a semi-square to Venus.
Note this: Mercury in Taurus and Venus in Gemini are in mutual reception and linked by a semi-square. Air (ME) in the ground (TAU) against ground (VE) in the air (GEM). Both planets being rulers of earth and air signs and badly linked.

When examining disaster, one tends to look at the heavy planets first, but in this chart, you also need to look at innocuous "inferior" planets and remember they were both considered major in the Babylonian times and were supposed to wreak terrible events when badly placed in the sky. I think that's what happened here, these two were major contributors. Not only was the sun rising, or just before or just after, which may have caused temporary blindness with the pilots (even though Pleiades is not emphasised), but Moon was becoming a New Moon, and Mercury would have been visible in the sky with naked eyes, if the mist or desert sand dust was not too strong. And at the time of the crash, Jupiter also would have been very visible if there had not been any fog.

This question of weather at the time of the crash is a vexing one, because METARS (the meteorological maps for aircrafts) mentioned good, hazy with diminishing visibility by the minute. So, depending on the exact time of the crash, the crew either had extremely good, or very bad, weather. For 0400Z (i.e. GMT) as is the time declared by the authorities, Mars was exactly square the ASC, angular in the IVth and ruler of the Moon. The descent would have been too fast and the reaction of the crew to rectify the situation would also have been (emotional - Moon) too fast (Mars). Saturn and Uranus are opposed almost exactly, while Uranus is in a critical degree.

The role played by ATC (air traffic controllers) would be shown by Mercury and, possibly, by Saturn (control). Strongly malefic Mercury rules Saturn in Virgo in the Vth, which house may be partly ruled by a rising Sun (depending on the time). Looks like some rumors on some pilots' forum are not too far from the astrological truth. ATC would have been debilitated with these planets. With respect to technical difficulties with the plane itself, one should look again at Mercury, and possibly Uranus. There's a sesquisquare between Uranus and Mars, no relation between Mercury and Uranus, Uranus is opposite Saturn and is ruled by strongly benefic Jupiter. A technical defect of the plane looks like it can be ruled out. However, the planets are not that strong and it maybe that the attempts to correct the plane's course may have surprised the pilots or the plane's reaction to commands was unexpected to the crew.

The placement of Pluto is ambiguous. It has a number of rather bad minor aspects with rather unpleasant minor planets, and a good trine to Mercury. In Capricorn in VIIIth it's ruled by a debilitated Saturn and secondarily by a rogue and strong Mars. This would to some extent explain the fragmentation of the plane into millions of unrecognizable pieces, save the tail fin and parts of the wheels and wings. Thinking aloud... fragmentation as in... as some people may have thought. The authorities were quite prompt to dismiss such a possibility and frankly, the chart is not that bad that it would indicate third parties tampering with this plane. This is despite the contraparallel of declination between Sun and Pluto.

There is a possibility that Neptune throws a mantle of illusion and deception with respect to what really happened, but this should not last long (Sun in XIIth). In this particular chart, it does look like the authorities are going to be very keen to demonstrate what happened, perhaps after some initial resistance from some quarters. This is because Neptune has very few links to the XIIth of hidden processes, also because Jupiter which is very benefic in this chart rules the VIIIth of death and secrecy. Finally, Pluto is slave to Saturn in Virgo, Saturn ruling the IXth, and it will demand the truth (which will come from abroad - IXth) at any cost (Mercury-Saturn-Virgo links). Besides, Mercury and Lilith in contraparallel will make it so that speculations will need to be quashed if this airline is to recover.

Turning to the heliocentric chart, see that Venus in Leo is strongly angular in IVth, if one take account of the angles in heliocentric astrology, and it also rules the ASC. There's something of a theme repeated there, haste to get home, and a child (Leo) who survives. It's exactly quincunx Pluto in Capricorn within minutes during the flight and that is telling. Something big, powerful, nasty, destroyed (Pluto) the beauty of home (Venus). It struck its belly first (Venus IVth).

To be continued....

Astrology Aspects - Air France AF447 Plane Crash - Flight Charts

Below are the astrology charts for the moments for which we have time and position, right up to the last message received. See also the other posts on my blog.

The plane departed from Rio-de-Janeiro (GIG), in Brazil. Coordinates for the airport are: 22°48'32"S 43°14'37"W. The time of leaving the gate was 19h03 local (22h03 GMT) on 31 May 2009 and the plane departed from that gate 3 minutes late.

The chart is impressive, with Uranus smack conjoined with the IC - the aspect is separating by 1 minute and 54 seconds. Of course, everyone will note Pluto in the XIIth conjunct the ASC. The triple conjunction of Jupiter-Neptune-Chiro in Aquarius is also almost exact to the quincunx of the MC. Though there are small good aspects, the malefic ones are really nasty, in particular the sesquiquadrate between Mars and Saturn which is applying and becoming exact during the flight. Another which I tend to beware is the Sun semisquare Venus. Because Venus is not far from the Sun, it cannot ever make major aspects with it and the only bad one that is cosmically possible is that semisquare. Every time I've found it, there was something nasty going on.

The heliocentric chart is not better. I've kept the houses in the helio chart in case it would show something interesting. We see Pluto and Mercury clustered at the ASC from the XIIth, and Mars out-of-sign-conjunct with Uranus from IVth and IIIrd to the IC. As for the trine between Venus and Saturn, it's a classical aspect of widowhood... The horrific Mars-Pluto square becomes exact during the flight.

The take-off was at 19h29 local (22h29). Well, it does not get any better save that the angles are a little further away from the nasties.

From the media, it is understood that the flight was uneventful in the first few hours. The last voice contact took place at 01h33 GMT on flight path UN873 INTOL at 01°21'42"S 32°49'56"W (decimal degrees: 1 21.7S 32 49.9W). At that time, there was no hint of possible problems with either the plane itself or the weather ahead.

The geocentric chart shows the critical and 29th degree of Aquarius rising. And so it places the triple conjuction of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron in the XIIth house. The Moon is starting a trine with Mercury, but unfortunately it becomes exact after the crash. Accurate within a minute is a semisextile of Pluto to the MC. The Sun is in the IVth, with no aspect. In the heliocentric chart, the square between Mars and Pluto has become exact a few moments before.

There is speculation that the plane made contact with Air France somehow at 02h00 GMT and mentioned severe turbulence at waypoint ORARO with this position: 02°14'48"N 30°55'24"W (decimal degrees 2 14.8N 30 55.4W). However I was unable to find any other official source than Air France. What I have seen on the Net looks reliable though. In that chart, ASC rises at 6°40 Pisces, and MC culminates at 10°23 Sagittarius. For the last contact with its "home base", one finds the Sun almost exactly conjunct the IC. The Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune lot are still in the XIIth. None of the aspects in the
previous charts have changed. The same is true of the heliocentric chart.

Between 02h10 and 02h14, a series of 24 automated messages were sent by the plane to the operating centers of Air France. Most of these messages are catastrophic in nature, but it is not yet known whether these messages were sent in sequence for events that happened, either during the time of the break-up of the plane (if it broke up) or after the plane had hit the ocean in one or several parts. If the plane did not deviate its horizontal course, the position at the time of the last automated message at 02h14 would have been extrapolated approximately as 3°34′40″N 30°22′28″W, but professionals who worked on the photos of the Brazilian map put this at 03°N, 30°21'W.

The geocentric chart, with all of the same aspects as during the flight, shows these striking features: for that position, the Sun is square the ASC, Saturn is square the MC, Mars is sesquisquare the MC. The Sun sqr ASC is exact at 02h13m29s, the Saturn sqr MC is exact at 02h18m01s, the Mars sesquisquare MC is exact at 02h18m14s. The helio chart is otherwise unremarkable.

Astrology Aspects - Air France AF447 Plane Crash - Plane Charts

Below is a collection of astrological charts for the plane crash of Air France AF447, as well as some photographs.

The plane was an Airbus A330-200. Its registration was F-GZCP and serial number 660. It was made in France, in Toulouse-Blagnac, in 2005. Location is: 43°37'48"N 01°21'52"E . Its maiden flight was on 25 February 2005 (time unknown) with its registration but no livery. As for uncertain birth times, many astrologers choose to use midday, but it's really an old habit which was used for convenience at the time when astrologers had to do calculations by hand and used ephemerides for noon. Other astrologers locate the Ascendant at the same position as the Sun, which is probably more astro-logical. This is what I was going to do. Then, as I was going to post a photograph of the plane on its first flight, I noticed it had been taken at 15h38, just seconds after take-off, so I finally set the astrology chart for that moment. On the heliocentric chart, I have retained the house placements (Regiomontanus), in case these provide interesting information.

Note that on this day, Uranus was very exactly conjunct the Sun. If anything, that aspect was the worst possible to have for a maiden flight. I just wish engineers in the aerospace industry would take notice of such events, even if they don't believe in astrology, and try not to have a "baptism" chart, a maiden flight chart, on such awful days.

On 4 April 2005 it was delivered in full livery to Air France.

It seems its first flight in the hands of Air France took place on 5 April 2005 at Toulouse-Blagnac, not at the Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport. Since writing the main article with all the astrological data of this doomed plane, I have obtained the time of the photograph of that flight for that date which was 16h00. I am no specialist, so I can't say whether it's landing or taking off. I think I'll use the 16h00 time until someone can point me towards a better time. The photograph clearly shows that this flight took place at Toulouse-Blagnac, not at the Paris airport as I had supposed. Please modify your data accordingly.

Its first commercial flight was on 18 April 2005 (time and destination unknown). I hesitated to put the Ascendant in conjunction with the Sun, figuring that it would make its first commercial flight at 6.58 am in the morning. Also, I figured that as a commercial flight, its "career" was best illustrated by a MidHeaven conjunct the Sun. In the end, I decided that until I get more information, probably the MC conjunct the Sun would be better. I located it at Paris-Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. Location is: 49°00'35"N 02°32'52"E. I could not find a photograph for this particular flight.

Astrology Aspects - Air France AF447 Plane Crash - Data

Below is astrological data concerning the crash of Air France AF447 plane which occurred on 1st June 2009 early morning in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The flight departed Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) on 31 May 2009 and was expected to land in the late morning in Paris (France). It vanished, lost in tropical thunderstorms, having issued no Mayday, with 228 people on board. It took several days to find some parts of it. There has been much speculation regarding this fatal flight. Since there is very accurate data, it may be worth trying to do an astrological in-depth analysis of the events. See also other posts on the blog.

I have spent the majority of this week trying to collect the most up-to-date and reliable astrology data for astrologers who may want to study this catastrophic aircraft crash. I will update this list as and when I find more details. I herewith thank also all the Internet contributors on various fora for expressing their views and demonstrating their in-depth knowledge of aviation. Without them, this list would not have been possible. I'll try to make separate posts for photographs, charts and links with the thanks owed to authors of various articles and photographs in the next few days. Please feel free to make astrology comments or questions below, far down the post. I've done a lot of research work on this event and I may have on file details that may be of use to your astrological delineations but which I have omitted from this post. Bookmark this page and come back soon.

Please be respectful when using this data, do not use commercially and give prayers that the victims' souls rest in peace. Thank you.

The aircraft

The plane was an Airbus A330-200. Its registration was F-GZCP and serial number 660. It was made in France, in Toulouse-Blagnac, in 2005. Location is: 43°37'48"N 01°21'52"E
  • It's maiden flight was in Toulouse-Blagnac on 25 February 2005 (time unknown) with its registration but no livery.
  • Since writing this post, I have noted that the Maiden Flight of F-GZCP was photographed at 15h38 (14h38 GMT). Please update your charts accordingly.
  • On 4 April 2005 it was delivered in full livery to Air France (delete this, read below... in the Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport). Location is: 49°00'35"N 02°32'52"E

  • It seems its first flight in the hands of Air France took place on 5 April 2005 (time unknown) (delete this, read below... at the Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport).
  • Since writing this post, I have learnt that the time of the flight for that date was 16h00 and the photograph obtained - see next post with all charts - clearly shows that this flight took place at Toulouse-Blagnac, not at the Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport, as I had wrongly assumed. Please update your charts accordingly.
  • Its first commercial flight was on 18 April 2005 (time and destination unknown).
There is, therefore, a question as of which date is to be taken for the birth chart of the plane. Considering its career was that of a commercial jet with passengers, I'd go for the 18 April 2005 date, though I would regard the previous dates as various "conception" dates which may be susceptible of shedding some light on its astrological future. Others may be of the opinion that it's maiden flight is the birth chart, even though it wasn't in the hands of Air France and did not carry Air France colors then. Later, upon getting more information and analysis of its history and accidents, including the last, we may be able to conclude better which chart to use.

The flight

The plane departed from Rio-de-Janeiro (GIG), in Brazil. Coordinates for the airport are:
22°48'32"S 43°14'37"W. The time of leaving the gate was 19h03 local (22h03 GMT) on 31 May 2009 and the plane departed from that gate 3 minutes late. The take-off took place at 19h29 local (22h29).

From the media, it is understood that the flight was uneventful in the first few hours. The last voice contact took place at 01h33 GMT on flight path UN873 INTOL at 01°21'42"S 32°49'56"W (decimal degrees: 1 21.7S 32 49.9W).

At 0148 GMT, 15 minutes after crossing the INTOL waypoint, AF447 dropped off Brazilian radar screens to enter a no-radar-zone where it was to fly until its entry later on the way into Senegalese airspace.

From this point AF447 was due to reach the Senegalese air space at waypoint TASIL at 4°00'18"N 29°59'24"W at 0220 GMT after going through this radar void in this region and huge thunderstorms. It never arrived.

That is supposing that the airspeed remained the same. However those messages contain indications that the groundspeed was somehow not right, but it is not known if the equipment was so damaged that it would communicate wrong groundspeed, or if it was still functioning ok and transmitting accurate speed - if I have understood correctly. Some speculate that falling straight down from a height of 11km (35,000 feet) takes exactly 4 minutes.
-->
After many difficulties to locate the mystery plane, the Brazilian Air Force and Navy started to find bodies and pieces of the plane. Bearing in mind that such remains may have been floated away from the crash site by the ocean currents, the location where these were found is unlikely to be the exact place of the crash. The date the first body was recovered was 6 June 2009 and the time it was located was 11h14 GMT. It is said that the location was 3° 34.08'N, 30° 27.30'W which may be accurate to about 10 km. It was then brought aboard the frigate at 11h30 GMT. As of the time of writing, 9 June 2009, 28 bodies have been recovered, as well as pieces of the airplane, notably its fin which was found on 8 June 2009.

Air France has stated that it will issue a preliminary report by the end of the month of June.

Details that may be pertinent to astrological analysis of the AF447 crash. Consider the following:

  • The plane had had accidents in the past, and there has been speculation on whether this could be a factor in weakening some parts of the aircraft.

  • There is dispute with professional pilots on some pieces of equipment which measures airspeed called "pitots" and which Air France is now urgently replacing, against Airbus advice, as pilots are now refusing to fly with the old version of this equipment, which had already caused some trouble.

  • There are considerations of extraordinary weather circumstances, in particular a rise of hot air inside a cumulonimbus (a CB), which would cause the plane to get stuck in what is called "coffin corner". Hail, icing, rain, lightning, turbulence have been raised as main or co-factors.

  • Weather radar malfunction in the radome has been mentioned. Equally the possibility that a small but extraordinary violent storm hid behind otherwise non-frightening images of a normal bad weather, beyond the technical possibility for the radar to show it in time which, purportedly, would explain why the pilots did not divert. It is to be remembered this was night-time, in the middle of clouds and weather disturbances, where pilots could not possibly navigate their plane on sight. The moon was third-quarter and its light would not have penetrated the extremely high and dense clouds.

  • There were three pilots, with strong experience, unlikely to want to ride the dragon. Of the twelve crew members, eleven were French and one was Brazilian.

  • Of the 216 passengers there were one baby, seven children, 82 women, and 126 men. The plane had a number of noteworthy travellers, including a royal prince, for whom one might want to obtain birth dates data to analyse. The passengers represented a wide cross-section of the population, with doctors, artists, humanitarians, anti-drugs and anti-arms volunteers, researchers, industry captains, a group of 10 employees rewarded by a trip to Brazil for their performance at work, newly weds, one lone child, and a majority of French, Brazilian and German people.

  • There have been several reports of other pilots/planes sighting a white falling light of 6 seconds' duration in the night sky about the time it happened. None of these sightings can be confirmed, yet, as having been AF447.

  • At the moment, it seems, on the Brazilian photographs, that not many pieces of the the plane have been found, and they do not look scattered in a wide area - but then this will be written in the future report. According to this, some speculate that the plane entered the ocean whole or at most in a few large pieces and did not disintegrate in millions pieces in the air.

  • The black boxes will be incredibly difficult to find as the ocean is several miles deep around this area, with mountainous terrain.
  • There was no electricity cut-off, otherwise the automated messages could not have been sent.

  • There has been mention of terrorism in the early days, and although the French autorities claim their views are open to all possibilities, at the moment this seems unlikely. There was an empty bomb threat made against Air France, but on another flight route, several days previously. I have not been able to find out though if it was for the same plane or not.

  • As for dangerous cargo, oxygen tanks or fuel tanks exploding, at the moment there does not seem to be clues in these directions.

  • There are surely vested interests as well. It's pretty sure that the issue of liability and insurance will be raised. Who will foot the bill?

  • Air France has lost money this year. It would be in its interest to show that there was no shoddy repair work on the plane, that manuals and instructions were strictly adhered to, and that it was either the pilots fault or faulty equipment from the manufacturer Airbus.

  • Airbus needs to show the planes don't just break up for one or two little pieces of equipment, or worse, for some problem with structural faults between composite and metal parts of the airplane.

  • Twelve other flights took place more or less simulataneously and on the same flight routes or very near. None of the other flights reported problems. None saw anything. Therefore what happened to AF447 must be delineated as unique compared to the other flights.

  • The Brazilians have shown much dedication and professionalism in this very difficult job. They have also been fairly transparent and humane in their communications, despite one or two little errors, but who could blame them?

  • The United States are bringing equipment to help trace the black boxes.

  • The French are bringing a nuclear submarine and a specific recovery submarine to find the boxes. That's in addition to other vessels searching for pieces and remains. Their communication behavior has not been up to par with that of the Brazilians, understandably considering their liabilities.

  • For those using altitude in their astrology charts, the plane was probably, according to its flight plan, on level 350, ie. 35,000 feet or 11 km.
