Horoscope Astrology of an Airplane Crash Victim
The French airplane crash ,
Air France Flight 447, in June 2009 counted a number of famous passengers, some of whose birth dates are publicly available on the Internet. One of these plane crash casualties was Prince Pedro Luís of Orléans-Braganza born on 12 January 1983 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was due to become the pretender to the former imperial crown of Brazil.
Prince Pedro's birth chart contains an accumulation of astrological aspects which may have aroused the suspicion of an astrologer as to the
risks he was taking while travelling. Each of these aspects taken individually would be innocent enough but all together they did portend the possibility that fate would hand a tragedy while on a trip. As a member of a royal family, there is no doubt that his life involved a more than your average number of travels. If he had benefitted from astrological counsel prior to boarding the flight, the planetary transits would have had any good astrologer say t
o avoid flying on this particular date when the jet crashed.
Although it is difficult to forecast the exact date and time of any air plane crash, it is possible to find out risky days in an individual birth chart. No astrologer worthy of this name would have taken a flight on a day when transiting aspects were really bad on one's own chart.
The charts for this unfortunate event are below.
Orbs are tight at 3°00' or much less, although some consideration has been given to the general atmosphere of the charts with wider orbs. Time of birth is unknown and the chart is set up for noon, as per custom. Considering this chart is about the heir to the throne of Brazil, one may surmise that a noon chart, placing the MC near the Sun could be appropriate for a general delineation of the houses.
Radical aspects which show the possibility of travel accidents
In the natal geocentric aspects, one finds an applying retrograde Mercury conjunct Pluto -
literally travel to death or death in travel, Mercury being placed in the last critical degree of Capricorn.
The Sun conjunct Lilith show an introspective young man, who might some day have made inadequate choices (perhaps in the choice of flying dates) because of occasional overwhelming feelings of melancholy or depression. These aspects are exact during the day of birth.
A semi-square from Sun to Uranus may have given him already some taste of
unpleasantness with respect to flying - delays, turbulent weather, flying during difficult times or, simply, distasteful fellow passengers. In the separating aspects, one finds Moon conjunct Ketu, the South Node, which is a sign of
something unusual (and bad) to happen at some point in life. The Uranus Lilith semi-square only reinforces the impulsiveness of making decisions when emotionally unwell. Such a decision could have been to fly on such a day.
If one accepts that the noon chart may reveal significant house positions, then it immediately strikes the eye that
Jupiter and Uranus - very widely conjunct - are posited in the VIIIth. Uranus rules aircraft and Jupiter rules big things/events. Jupiter rules the IXth of far-away travel, and is second ruler of the XIIth, hidden sorrows and suffering. Uranus rules the XIth, and is also a secondary master of the Xth (the destiny) after Saturn.
As for Pluto and Saturn, they are widely conjunct and occupy the VIIth. And the VIIth is not only one's spouse or known ennemy, it's also the house of those that give counsel to the native. Stretching this a little, one could see an older pilot in the VIIth. If one takes this view, Saturn which had been exalted in Libra, had barely arrived in Scorpio and became very debilitated, so any VIIth house person would have been of poor advice in the Prince's life - including if this person had been a pilot. With
Mercury exactly square Pluto from the Xth, a number of times the native must have been given bad advice, particularly when it came to travel, communications, papers, administration. This aspect would have given him a capacity to think strategically, but not the ability to always act on his conclusions, especially since Mercury was retrograde.

The
conjunction of the Moon, IVth house ruler of the "end-of-the-matter", to the South Node happens across the IIIrd-IXth house axis. Neptune is posited in the IXth in Sagittarius, certainly not the best placement for travel, although it may show merciful unconsciousness of the crash happening. This young man was
unlikely to ever benefit from long trips across the seas. Mars, ruler of the Ascendant, is on the cusp (Regiomontanus) of the Xth and XIth, showing dashing friends from work and possibly he was a man who liked to protect others around him. Mars is, however, in Aquarius, which although it gives lofty friendship ideas, is not its best placement. Mars is in the "aircraft" scene there, ruled by a debilitated Uranus in VIIIth and secondarily ruled by Saturn (by sign). In addition to which these two are in mutual reception - between malefics...
On the declinations level, Moon is out-of-bounds and therefore liable to give sudden decisions or changes in opinions, emotions unruled also. Moon is parallel Neptune, and not far from a parallel to Uranus. Both these would have given him some intuition but, as above, not necessarily the ability to use it. Jupiter is widely parallel Uranus, "
something big to do with planes". Mars is widely contraparallel to Chiron, giving enduring energy and charm, but also energetic action without due thought. Jupiter is contraparallel to both Mercury and Venus. This would one the one hand give him fortune and some amount of luck with financial matters and, generally, an easy character to get along despite his occasional bouts of sadness or internal worries. He liked travelling despite all the constraints he must have experienced in his trips. The kind Jupiter-Mercury-Venus aspects may also have given him peace in his last moments and he is unlikely to have suffered during the crash.
Turning to the heliocentric chart, one sees some rather dark aspects: a
yod between Saturn and Neptune with Chiron at the apex, with Jupiter in opposition to the latter. An almost exact
Saturn conjunct Pluto; Earth is sesqui-square Uranus.
Mercury is quincunx Uranus. In the parallels of latitude, the picture is worrisome:
Mars is contraparallel Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Saturn is contraparallel both Venus and Chiron, which may explain why he did not marry despite the charm he exhibited and the financial means at his disposal.
Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune are parallel the Earth, indicating that he would make a mark on his world - or that
something worldly would mark him. Which this plane accident did, considering how this crash event shocked even the most seasoned people, being talked about for months, and, to this day, being a complete mystery.
Transits on the day of AF447 plane crash
On that fated day, Prince Pedro was having a
series of bad transits. On the early morning of the flight, transiting
Mars in the very last critical degree of Aries was exact to the opposition of his Pluto. If only that, any astrologer should have told him to stay home. This might not have avoided an accident altogether, but might have mitigated it.
There was worse. This very transiting
Mars, extremely strong in its Aries sign, but malefic on the last degree, was also squaring his natal retrograde Mercury in Capricorn. Both these aspects would have happened every 2 1/2 years, but considering the natal chart, he should have been counselled not to make any dangerous trip on such days.
Even worse, since the middle of May 2009, he was experiencing a trail of a
treble transit to the conjunction of his radical Mars: the works of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron. Though Jupiter and Chiron are beneficial planets, they are debilitated in Aquarius and cannot bring any luck to the radical Mars which is particularly unsettled in its native environment. To top it all,
Mars made an exact contraparallel to Saturn on the day he took the plane.
Mars has decidedly not been an ally on Prince Pedro's chart as it was also receiving a parallel from Neptune and Jupiter, as well as a contraparellel from Mercury.

Transiting Pluto was no better with parallels to Mercury and Venus - if he hadn't travelled that day, he might have harnessed the more pleasant sides of these two aspects, but it was not to be. Transiting Sun was contraparallel to his Neptune on the day after the jet crash. As for the North Node, it was transiting to the parallel to Mercury, Venus, Sun, Jupiter and Uranus - when ancient astrology talks about fate being connected to the Node, there's an example!
Transiting Mercury in Taurus had just finished, that very day, its retrogradation, almost exactly conjunct his radical Chiron, so no help from this either. The sesquisquare from Saturn to Mercury was separating and had been an influence for the last 7-8 months, imparting some debility in judging situations clearly as well as inconvenience either for travel or for studies.
Transiting Rahu, the North Node, was applying to the retrograde Mercury. Pluto was in the vicinity of the Moon-Ketu conjunction, but not yet exact.
There were other disturbing aspects, but they were not exact and occured either in the past or in the future, only depicting some difficult years with respect to what he wanted to do as a career and for his studies. The
transiting Moon had, earlier in the day, conjuncted Saturn.
Never, ever, start something the day the Moon is in the same sign as Saturn! Thankfully, the
Moon finally made a grand Earth trine with the Sun-Lilith conjunction and Chiron, becoming exact with Lilith at 02h21m and Chiron at 02h26m37s on 1 June 2009, a few minutes after the last message was received by Air France Technical Operations. This would certainly have contributed to a peaceful end and though it did not save his life, at least he did not suffer. And this is shown by the other various and kind aspects elsewhere in the charts.
The heliocentric chart of the plane crash together with Prince Pedro's chart do show some aspects of extreme significance, surrounded by generally difficult conditions and lack of luck illustrated with a Saturn almost exact sextile to the Earth.
Any Saturn aspect could not have brought any good, even in a sextile configuration.
Saturn was also applying to the opposition of radical Mars. Chiron and Neptune were applying to the square of radical Jupiter.
Transiting Venus is prominent with an opposition to Earth and a semi-square to Uranus on the day before and after the crash. Transiting Mercury had just joined transiting Pluto, and both were aspecting radical Mercury with a separating opposition. Finally, if one looks at the possible timing in the chart, one finds a
very telling transiting Mercury semi-sextile Uranus becoming exact at 01h54m GMT on 1 June 2009, minutes before the crash. In and of themselves, the individual aspects are fairly innocuous, until you consider the sum total of the malefict planetary patterns.
The parallels of latitude show
a desperate picture:
Applying: Mars contraparallel Neptune, Mars contraparallel Jupiter, Jupiter contraparallel Jupiter, Jupiter contraparallel Neptune, Saturn parallel Saturn, Earth parallel Uranus
Separating, but not by far: Mars parallel Mars, Mercury contraparallel Mercury, Uranus contraparallel Neptune, Neptune contraparallel Uranus and the Earth.
Astrology and horoscopes - Is there free will or are we fated?
After such an analysis, one can only become convinced that
the amount of fate in a person's life is considerable, though perhaps not a 100%. To see fate at work, one might want to study Prince Pedro's father chart.
Tragedy is patently obvious in his charts. The data is 24 June 1950 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, no birth time published
Please be respectful of these people when you analyse the charts, there has been enough suffering already. Thank you.
