Horoscope and Pictures of the Hungary Red Mud Tragedy
A quick astrological analysis shows that Mars and Venus conjoined the day before at 23h57m49s. Mars is called the "Red Planet" and governs iron. It's very strong in its domicile Scorpio, the poison sign of the Zodiac. It overpowers weak Venus in exile and, as a result, it has poisoned crops and farm animals - Venus being the agriculture planet. Scorpio also rules muddy and filthy waters, rejects containing toxic wastes.

Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio is posited in Capricorn. Since Capricorn rules structures, Pluto broke the dam. Capricorn is also a rural sign and this happened in a rural part of Hungary. Capricorn also rules science and big well-known dominant firms, in this case the Hungarian Aluminium Plant was using a foreign process made by Bayer, a Swiss giant firm which is a worldwide chemicals enterprise. Not only does this red mud contain iron as a by-product of aluminium manufacturing, but it also contains precious metals vanadium, titanium and heavy metals. These metals are placed under the dominion of Aries (Mars), Scorpio (Mars and Pluto) and Capricorn (Saturn).
Although very sad for the dead and injured, it was really quite lucky there weren't as many victims as in the Bhopal gas tragedy. This is probably due to Jupiter in Pisces where it is well placed. However, the dam broke quite suddenly and this is due to Uranus conjunct this Jupiter, in Pisces, but within less than 2° of Aries.

What is not obvious at first is the role of the MC - it is conjoined to Mercury and applies to the Sun, the latter which subsequently applies to Saturn. It is said that once the sludge is dry, it will become an aerosol far more dangerous than the burning mud. Scientists are urgently debating how to neutralize this problem. They have advised to pour gypsum (gypsum could be a Capricorn/Saturn product) and acetic acid (a Pluto in Capricorn product) to lower the ph of the waters, but this did not help. MC is governed by Venus, primarily, and by Saturn, secondarily. Venus being weak, it does not forebode well for this question, although the best minds of scientists (Saturn) will probably find some sort of alleviating solution to airborne red sludge.

As for Mercury which is part of this conjoining configuration of Sun and Saturn, it is not hugely helpful and may contribute, further in time, to an increase in respiratory illness in the inhabitants of the area. It may also indicate that it is true that it was an open secret that the dam leaked already years ago. As an aside, note that the main railway line in the area was cut off by the red flood and that would be under the dominion of Mercury.
The conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus to the Aries IC of the chart depicts the damage to the houses and land - and to the psyche of people. There is much talk at present of the residents being very angry, understandably, and one should not be surprised if there are strong and irrational reactions against the firm and its managers.

One could go on and on with the astrology description of the charts for this event. Note in particular that the Neptune Chiron conjunction was fairly neutral, although almost exact. In fact, it might help in finding some chemical remedy for the worst of the damages and recovery of the injured people. At least, this conjunction did not contribute much horror to the scene.
One would need to watch carefully what happens when Venus turns retrograde and direct again to better assess the damage. It's likely that many people will have to move elsewhere permanently, that the agriculture of this area is totally ruined for many years to come and that the fish in the contaminated rivers will be dead without there being a possibility for reintroducing it. Aquifers will be contaminated and well water will be unusable for generations. As for the Danube, it was already a rather filthy river where industrial wastes were poured in from all countries it goes through.

The Worldwide Wild Fund (WWF) points out the similarities between this disaster and the cyanide spill disaster 10 years ago, at 22h00m on 30 January 2000. In the pictures one can see that the dams were already leaking in 2008 when Google Earth photographed the area.
The Hungary Chart by Astrodienst show a number of points being touched by the disaster chart (Hungary, 23 October 1989, 12h00m noon (CET), Budapest, 47°30'N 19°05'E. The astrology charts (Disaster Chart and National Chart) are set with 2° orbs only, otherwise they look cluttered. Minor aspects have been kept, as well as asteroids.

The disaster occurred near the Ajka Timföldgyár alumina plant,in Veszprém County, Hungary, around lunchtime with, as is usual, a number of media giving different times. The mud waves flooded the villages of Kolontar and Devecser. The official site of the aluminium factory has posted that it started receiving telephone calls that the dam had broken at 12h10 pm. To allow for the time of finding its telephone number and getting through someone responsible, I have graphed the chart for 12h03 (CEST) which seems reasonable to me, to account for several calls all trying to convey to someone in charge that a huge tragedy was unfolding. The date was Monday 4 October and GMT was 10h03. The exact location is 47°05'10"N 17°29'42E - if Google Earth is accurate. I have taken the location at the point where the dam broke.
